This Instagram Will Have You Second Guessing Your Vision
@SymmetryBreakfast/Instagram We can't get enough of #putaneggonit, so it makes sense that when we saw the beautifully composed images that Instagrammer SymmetryBreakfast was cooking up, we freaked out a little (a lot). Seriously, you've got to see these beauties.
Michael Zee, the owner of the account, lives in London and prepares perfectly symmetrical breakfasts for himself and his boyfriend every day. His cookbook is coming out this summer, and he writes that SymmetryBreakfast is about the most important meal of the day — how to make it with love and eat it with pleasure, feeding not only your own soul but the soul of your loved ones as well. People are clearly feeling the love he puts into these meals: the account currently has 540,000+ followers. Plus, Zee's work has landed him a cookbook, which will be released late this summer.
"I think the reason people connect to it is that it's a selfless act that's driven by love," Zee told The Guardian. "I was doing this before I had an Instagram following, and I'd still do it if I didn't have a book offer."
Whether it's Cinnamon Roll Pancakes with Sweet Cream Cheese Frosting or Hong Kong Egg Waffles with berries and Praline Rose Ricotta, breakfast has NEVER looked so good. On top of looking incredibly tasty, each breakfast is flawlessly presented and beautifully photographed.
Each meal features vibrantly fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade breads and pastries, and draws inspiration from a global cuisine perspective. Zee created a Palestinian-inspired breakfast with homemade hummus, za'atar flatbreads, and fresh cucumbers. A Danish breakfast of Smørrebrød, rye bread topped with prawns and hard-boiled eggs, was perfectly European, and he kept things simple (albeit flawlessly symmetrical) with Cornflake cereal and champagne to celebrate 500,000 followers.
If Mr. Zee's charming culinary creations have you feeling inspired, we definitely suggest starting with something simple — tackle these homemade Pop Tarts with a side of Red Velvet Hot Chocolate for Valentine's Day breakfast in bed. Or at least step up your avocado toast game.
