This Lush St. Patrick's Day Table Is Totally Unexpected

Image
Jenna Elliott | One Eleven Photography As the unofficial herald of spring and a celebration of all things Irish, St. Patrick's Day is the perfect opportunity for merrymaking. But for sisters Laurén LaRocca and Marlan Willardson, the party stylists and lifestyle bloggers behind Twink + Sis, St. Paddy's Day festivities don't have to include the all-too-expected shamrocks and four leaf clovers. "Our 'good luck' themed St. Patrick's Day table is definitely a more subdued side of the holiday than most of us are used to," says LaRocca. "We always try to challenge ourselves to create events that are festive and beautiful, and a little bit unexpected."  The "good luck" theme was inspired by the well-known quote, "Find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you'll have good luck." With this in mind, Laurén and Marlan covered every inch of the table in pennies, and used that as a fun foundation for the rest of the tablescape. Jen...

"This table is our rendition of the table our mother and grandmother would create for the holiday," LaRocca said. "Our grandmother had wicker cornucopias as the centerpiece of the table with an abundance of overflowing fall fruit — it was really beautiful and always stuck with us. So we did our own take on that using the brass bowls and pedestals to house pomegranates, tangerines, figs and grapes." Even the romantic color palette references the...

How to Lay the Perfect Tablescape for a Festive Spring Fete

Ingalls Photography I place a lot of funny little things on the tabletop, because I find that you eat as much with your eyes as you do with your mouth. The prettier your table looks and feels, the more your guests will enjoy their experience and remember the food. I combine glassware I inherited from my mother with pieces I buy at auctions. Mixing them makes the table eclectic and entertaining. A low vase allows for free-flowing conversations across the table. Ingalls Photography Chargers keep your table dressed and beautiful at all times, so it's never naked between courses. These napkin rings are my favorites! They pick up the gold rims on the plates and glasses and make mismatched linens look wonderful together.
