This Canadian Home Is Full of Hidden (Kitschy) Treasures

Kitsch gets a bad wrap for being tacky or too over-the-top, but this home proves that a refined eye (and a clear color palette) can make the look work – even if it's not everyone's cup of tea.
First, you're greeted by a perfectly manicured lawn, complete with manicured hedges and wide stone walkway. The purple color of the shutters (and matching benches that flank the front door) might be same color as Willy Wonka's famous velvet jacket, but they pop handsomely against the gray exteriors.
But the quirky interior is what really makes this house one-of-a-kind — starting with the pig in the kitchen. Sure, it's a pig planter, but a pig none-the-less. And after inspecting more rooms, we discovered each one had their fair share of surprising accessories. For starters, in the kitchen you'll also find a pink birdcage (without a bird!) and a cow hanging out over the stovetop.
Meanwhile the fireplace mantle in the living room showcases a complete Russian nesting doll set and hot pink throw pillows on blue floral couches that looks straight out of Alice In Wonderland. You'll also find a collection of wooden ducks on the sunporch and what looks like a chair on top of the toilet in one of the half baths — we haven't quite figured that one out yet, but we kinda love it.
But the bedroom with the four-poster frame has to be our favorite: Two cherubs hang over the headboard, while a stroller full of dolls sits between the bed and one of the most unique wardrobes we've ever seen. We'll go ahead and assume this is a little girl's room and we're confident it's everything she could ever want.
