You'll Never Believe What's Really Inside Your Ikea LACK Table

We already have Ikea's iconic LACK table all over our homes, but the side table still holds a few secrets that might shock even the superstore's biggest enthusiasts. The $$ coffee table stands fairly sturdy, so no one would guess that it's actually made of mostly PAPER. 

That's right  — your go-to play table, nightstand, and footstool is nothing more than intricately-folded cardboard covered with particle board, as this National Geographic video reveals. While the wallet-friendly price tag might be an indicator of inferior quality, there's a reason that this lightweight piece has stuck around so long. As one factory employee demonstrates, the honeycomb paper is surprisingly strong — one sheet can even support his 100-kilo (or 220-pound) frame. 

Call it an engineering marvel, but it's just another reason to love Ikea. Plus, the white and black versions are now just a mere $ on the Ikea website. Guess it's time to come up with a few more hacks...
