Carole King's Idaho Ranch Reminds Us of All Her Hit Songs

Just like the 1961 song Carole King wrote for The Drifters, her Robinson Bar Ranch is "Some Kind of Wonderful." The singer-songwriter spent decades transforming this Stanley, Idaho retreat that's nestled in the Boulder-White Cloud Mountain Range, but after 32 years of living there, she's listed the 128-acre property on the market for a cool $.9 million — cue "Take Good Care of My Baby," because we're sure this wasn't an easy decision.

For starters, the 7,337-square-feet main lodge is the definition of rustic, and the surrounding mountain and creek views are nothing if not inspiring. Exposed log walls and ceilings line the home, along with handmade wooden furniture and wood-burning stone fireplaces that feel ultra cozy. But it's not just decorated with nature — it's environmentally friendly too. Geothermal springs produce energy-saving radiant heat that keeps the home warm during the cold winter months.

And in true Hollywood style, it has a few over-the-top amenities as well, like a recording studio with a piano and full drum set (because, of course). We're sure after King wrote a few hit songs (all in a day's work) she enjoyed the serene, stone-lined shower or natural grass and stone pools outside. Or perhaps she took a stroll over to the equestrian facilities to pet the horses or visited guests in one of the many quaint cottages. We may never know, but one thing is for certain: This home has everything a  "natural woman" would want.
