Artist Bonnie Gale specializes in creating these structures, which involve weaving the branches of living willow trees to create large, open forms.
This dome-like installation was made for a private client in Bridgehampton, New York. The idea was to create outdoor rooms that nodded to the work of German artist Marcel Kalberer, who forms living trees into intricate architectural structures. The rooms were entirely made of willow branches, each with a chandelier-like lighting element that invites you to spend the evening outdoors.
