Image
Courtesy of RAOR.org/Realtor.com Just when you thought the Heidi Klums and Leonardo DiCaprios of the world were the only people who could afford their own private islands, this 1.2-acre dream retreat hits the market. The asking price? $$$,000 – seriously. Compare that to a median price of nearly $.2 million for a home in New York City or the $$$,000 median sale price in Hawaii, and it's clear that this private island is quite the steal. It's located in Lake Vermilion in Northeast Minnesota, part of the boundary waters between the U.S. and Canada, according to Realtor.com. While dual citizenship is not included, the property does come with a two-bedroom main house and a 250-square-foot guesthouse. The home boasts a two-level deck, perfect for taking in the extraordinary wilderness views, and a boat dock. The interior features a combination kitchen, dining and living area. High, vaulted and beamed ceilings add a rustic sensibility to...

What they lack in size, they make up for in flavor. burrocheesekitchen.com Burro Cheese Kitchen, Austin, TX This eatery is housed in a bright yellow shipping container and offers only the highest quality grilled cheese sandwiches. You can order items like The O.G. (Hawaiian bread + Havarti ) from the artisan sandwich menu, or invent your own. Either way, it's a cheesy win. burrocheesektichen.com Emily McIntyre/Sprudge.com Story Coffee Company, Colorado Springs, CO This adorable coffee shop opened after the owners traveled to 45 states on a coffee tour of America — talk about a caffeine kick. They plan to serve coffee sourced from their favorite roasters all over the country in a 20-by-8-foot structure. They cite the tiny house movement as a source of inspiration, and we're pretty inspired by the "fine-dining" experience they plan to offer. storycoffeecompany.com Courtesy of Central Hotel & Cafe Central Hotel & Cafe, Copenhagen, Denmark This adorable nei...

Getty Images Havasu Falls: Supai, AZ Located on the Havasupai Tribe Reservation, the swimming hole at Havasu Falls is a doozy to get to, but well worth it. You'll need a permit, and the journey involves a 10-mile trek (or a helicopter or mule ride). Fun fact: Havasupai means "people of the blue green water." Floating Bonsai Trees Are a Thing You Never Knew You Needed

Image
Bored Panda via Kickstarter.com File this under things you never knew you needed: A team of designers in Japan have created floating, rotating bonsai trees using a combination of magnets and Hermione Granger-esque magic. The group surpassed its Kickstarter goal over the weekend, and if all goes according to plan, you could see one of these on your boss's desk by August.  Bored Panda via Kickstarter.com Because levitation doesn't come cheap, you're going to have to cough up $$$ for a basic Air Bonsai starter kit, or, if you're feeling fancy, $$,000 for an Air Bonsai kit and a trip to the Bonsai garden and workshop in Japan. And since it's illegal to export plants from Japan, US-based backers on the Kickstarter will receive locally-sourced trees.  As The Verge points out, there's presumably a weight limitation on the plant itself, and you'd have to be very careful watering the plant. Psh, it's worth it for the cost of a magical  floating pl...
